The Queensland Division of the Australian Institute of Professional Photography present Ian with the 2017 AIPP Qld Lifetime Achievement Award.

14 November 2016
Ian delivered a well received presentation to the Noosa Photo Club Sunshine Coast at Sunshine Beach.  Using current images, he showed an audio visual and then deconstructed a number of images explaining his approach to “deep and meaningless” documentary photography.  Some good questions from the audience kept him on his toes.

31 August  2016
Ian is awarded Master of Photography (M.Photog.) by the Australian Institute of Professional Photography at its annual Awards Dinner in Melbourne.

27-30 August
Ian is a Judge at the 40th Australian Profession Photography Awards (APPA) in Melbourne. Judging in the categories of Illustrative, Alternative Techniques, Landscape and Video Production.  Also an entrant gaining four silver awards from four entries.

Ian awarded Master of Photography, New Zealand Institute of Professional Photography (MNZIPP)

16-18 June
Ian was one of the Judges at the NZIPP Iris Awards, Wellington New Zealand. Judging in the categories of Creative, Illustrative, Portrait, Wild Places and Documentary; and Chairing a Wedding Category.

6-8 February, 2016
Ian was one of many presenters at the 2016 Hair of the Dog Queensland Photographic Convention in Brisbane.

25 November, 2015

Ian made a Licentiate of the Australian Institute of Professional Photography.  (A licentiate is a person who has a formal attestation of professional competence borne from experience, to not only practice a profession, but also to teach, educate and mentor others in the profession)

Ian will lead a workshop on The Making of a Winning Photograph at Foto Frenzy, Brisbane.

18-19 MAY 2013:
Ian will one of the Judges at the Queensland Photographer of the Year Awards, sponsored by the Australian Institute of Professional Photography.

22-26 APRIL 2013:
Ian presented his workshop Making the Right Photograph (Not the Perfect Photograph) at the prestigious Wanaka Autumn Art School 2013; Based in the South Island of New Zealand, this Art School is now in its 24th year. Previous presenters have included Dr Doug Spowart, Jackie Ranken and Mike Langford.

Mid APRIL 2013:
Look out for Ian talking to members of the New Zealand Institute of Professional Photographers, in Tauranga, Wellington, Palmerston North and Queenstown.  His presentations talked about entering images into the Awards and the judging process.  They were backed up with an audio visual of high scoring images from the Australian Awards and a print critique of submitted works.

Ian will also made a series of presentations to students at UCOL, Palmerston North and offered an image critique session.

16 FEBRUARY 2013:
As part of a group of Brisbane based photographers (Adam Finch, Darren Jew, Cam Attree, Richard Muldoon) Ian presented at the opening session at the Australian Institute of Professional Photography’s Hair of the Dog Convention at Mt Gravatt TAFE.
